GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Tramfloc® dechlorination tablets shall be formulated and produced to chemically neutralize both free and combined chlorine in water, wastewater and process water treatment systems. Tramfloc® tablets shall be engineered to dissolve slowly and evenly, maintaining effluent quality without any loss of dissolved oxygen or increase in BOD5. The tablets shall be 2-5/8" diameter, compressed to 13/16" thickness with an approximate weight of 5 oz. and incorporate beveled edges to stabilize chemical release and to minimize maintenance requirements. Sulfur dioxide gas or liquid sodium metabisulfite systems create serious health hazards and handling concerns and therefore shall not be considered for this application.

TABLET PROPERTIES AND USAGE
When used as directed, Tramfloc® dechlorination tablets shall provide an environmentally safe dose of sodium sulfite capable of neutralizing free and combined chlorine present in treated water, wastewater or process water. Research shows that high concentrations of sodium sulfite will degrade beneficial dissolved oxygen in receiving environments, producing harmful effects on the ecosystem. Tramfloc® tablets shall provide consistent reduction or elimination of residual chlorine without affecting water quality, dissolved oxygen or other discharge parameters. A unique combination of sustained release agents and sodium sulfite shall maintain a consistently uniform application rate regardless of flow, temperature or humidity. Tramfloc® dechlorination tablets shall generally lower chemical consumption and provide reliable reduction of chlorine residual in a more thorough, safe and economical manner than simple compressed sodium sulfite. Therefore, the use of other tablets of similar composition shall not be considered for this application.

PRODUCT APPLICATION
The 2-5/8" diameter by 13/16" thick Tramfloc® tablets shall be effective in the reduction or elimination of residual chlorine without releasing excess quantities of sodium sulfite into the receiving environment. Tramfloc® tablets shall maintain a consistent application rate at intermittent peak flow factors as high as four and shall provide reliable reduction of residual chlorine even when the significant runoff period is six hours. Tramfloc® tablets shall be considered non-hazardous under U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), RCRA, CERCLA and Sara Title III listings and consist solely of commercial grade or technical grade ingredients. GENERAL INFORMATION
Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets are uniquely formulated to provide an efficient and cost effective way of reducing or removing free and combined chlorine from the effluent of wastewater treatment systems. Scientifically blended to protect dissolved oxygen levels and to eliminate wicking or swelling, Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets automatically maintain a flow dependent application rate, up to intermittent peak flow factors of four. Optimum dechlorination rates are uniformly maintained even 'when the significant runoff period is six hours. When used in an approved gravity flow tablet feeder, BioNeutralizer Dechlorination Tablets provide a stable and controlled release of environmentally safe sodium sulfite, to insure the effective reduction of chlorine residual while maintaining overall effluent quality. Introduced after years of research and development, Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets contain a unique chemical formulation that protects effluent quality while neutralizing both free and combined chlorine. Research proves that higher concentrations of sodium sulfite can degrade beneficial dissolved oxygen levels, increase BOD5 and reduce overall effluent quality. The superior formulation of Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets provides consistent reduction or elimination of chlorine residual without significantly reducing dissolved oxygen. Packaged in 45-lb. DOT approved containers, Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets are a preferred alternative to costly and hazardous liquid, gas or mechanical dechlorination systems. If your wastewater treatment system requires dechlorination or if you are located near environmentally sensitive surface waters, please consider the advantages of Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets.

Tramfloc® Dechlorination Tablets are a strong reducing agent containing sodium sulfite. Contact with oxidizing agents such as chlorine disinfecting tablets or any other tablets used for wastewater chlorination is extremely dangerous. Care must be taken in handling and storage. Chlorine Tablets

Our dechlorination tablets are used for destroying the chlorine residual in drinking water, treated wastewater, plant effluent water, and in other applications in which the presence of chlorine is prohibited or undesirable.  Dechlorination tablets are simple to store, feed and control. These tablets can be used in a variety of feeders, or our tablet feeders. Our tablet feeders, Model 100 through Model 108, are designed to treat flows from a few hundred gallons per day up to 500,000 gallons per day. Please consult Tramfloc, Inc. for specific recommendations about tablet feeder models. Our dechlorination tablets are safe and effective.   Please consult us for help in calculating feed rates and daily dosages of our dechlorination tablets. Below are listed links to additional product data, the MSDS in the technical information bulletin. Please contact us with details about your application so that we can help generate a technically sound and economically feasible recommendation. Dechlorination tablets are sometimes suspended in mesh bags and placed in the chlorinated flow to destroy the chlorine. Dechlorination tablets lend themselves effectively to intermittent flows.

It is sometimes desirable to apply Tramfloc 905, a dechlorination liquid, which lends itself effectively to continuous flows of chlorinated water where regulations prohibit the discharge of any chlorine or sulfite residual.  Please consult Tramfloc, Inc. for Tramfloc 905 dosage rates and application techniques. We frequently use a chemical metering pump to administer Tramfloc 905. The application of our dechlorination liquid reagent often lends itself to a lower maintenance requirement. This can be very helpful to dechlorination applications. Tramfloc 905 is NSF 60 compliant, which means that the reagent can be fed to drinking water without deleterious effects. Tramfloc 905 is a very benign dechlorinating solution.

In certain applications it may be desirable to use an entirely different chemical reagent to destroy the chlorine, this reagent is ascorbic acid, commonly known as, vitamin C.  Ascorbic acid is applied as a granular material to create a solution which is fed to a chlorinated stream to completely destroy the chlorine. In certain regulatory environments ascorbic acid is the preferred dechlorinating agent because our material is so benign and is actually beneficial to aquatic plants and animals. The end-user would be wise to consult the regulators in his locality to determine which of our reagents would be the most acceptable in the dechlorination application. For feeding techniques and dosage information, please contact Tramfloc, Inc.
